Terms of use

Ampworth is free to use, with no account. These terms cover the pages, the calculators, the JSON API and the MCP servers.

Last updated 17 October 2026.

Who runs the site

Ampworth is run by Samyukti. You can reach us at support@ampworth.com. By using the site, the API or the MCP servers, you accept these terms.

What the calculators are for

The calculators follow the methods published in the MCS standards and, for the network connection route, the Energy Networks Association's engineering recommendations. They are for understanding a system and checking a quotation. They are not a design.

Anything that gets installed still needs a survey and a design from a certified installer. Don't rely on a figure from this site alone to buy, size or install a system, and check anything important against the standard it cites.

The guides and articles

The guides, articles and questions explain the standards in general terms. They aren't professional, financial or legal advice for your circumstances. Rules, grants and prices change, and although the site is kept up to date, some information may be out of date when you read it.

No connection to MCS

Ampworth uses the MCS standards and implements their published methods. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by MCS, it sells nothing and it recommends no installer.

The JSON API and MCP servers

  • You can use them for free, without a key, in your own software and assistants, including commercial ones.
  • Requests are rate limited for each address. Don't try to get around the limit, overload the service or disrupt it for others.
  • Every answer includes a notice that an installation needs a design and survey by a certified installer. If you show the figures to other people, keep that notice with them.
  • The service can change or stop. Changes that break existing callers get a new versioned address, as described on the developers page.

Using the content

The text and code of the site belong to Samyukti. You can link to any page and quote short extracts, with a link back to the page you quoted. The MCS standards themselves belong to MCS.

No warranty

The site and its services are provided as they are, without any warranty that they are accurate, complete or always available. To the extent the law allows, Samyukti isn't liable for any loss arising from use of the site, the calculators, the API or the MCP servers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Privacy

What the site collects, and why, is in the privacy policy.

Changes and governing law

These terms may change, and the date at the top shows when they last did. They are governed by the law of England and Wales.
